About Art Camps
During this week, Campers will focus on an array of artistic mediums and create a piece of art in each medium. Lessons include a brief history and examples of famous works in that medium. By the end of the week, campers will have their own mini-portfolio to share with family, friends, and teachers. Each week incorporates a special tour of the museum, guest instructors, artist demonstrations, nature walks, and time in the gardens. No previous art instruction is necessary.
Camp days run from 9 am–4 pm, with lunch and outdoor time (weather permitting) from 12 pm-1 pm. Please note: Camp ends promptly at 4 pm and aftercare is not available.
Camp Fees: $285 members / $315 non-members

Introduction to Drawing
June 22-26
This introductory drawing camp invites young artists to explore the art of drawing through close observation and creative experimentation. Students will learn how to observe by drawing from museum artworks, objects, and life. Through guided exercises, they will develop foundational skills in observational drawing, practice expressive mark making, and experiment with a variety of drawing materials such as pencil, charcoal, ink, and mixed media. The class encourages curiosity, confidence, and personal expression while building essential drawing skills.
Stop Motion Animation
June 29-July 2 (no camp July 3)
*$235 members / $260 non-members
In this engaging week of camp, students will explore the art of stop motion animation while integrating language arts, visual arts, science, and computer science skills. Campers will develop storytelling techniques, plan and write storylines and scripts, and design and construct sets. The week will culminate in a showcase where students present their animated films, demonstrating their creativity, collaboration, and technical skills in bringing stories to life. Students will build their sets, capture animations using stop motion software, and learn about the science of motion and perception.
Introduction to Painting
July 20-24
Get ready to paint, experiment, and explore! In this introductory painting camp for young artists, students will dive into the world of color, texture, and expressive mark making. Inspired by museum artworks and their own ideas, students will learn how artists use paint to tell stories, create mood, and bring images to life. Students will experiment with watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint, discovering how each material moves, mixes, and surprises. Through hands-on projects, they’ll build confidence with brushes and tools, explore bold and subtle color choices, and develop their own unique painting style.
Exploring Mixed Media
July 27-31
This experimental mixed media camp invites young artists to treat the studio like a creative lab. Students will explore what happens when materials, ideas, and processes collide—testing, layering, remixing, and sometimes breaking the “rules” to see what’s possible. Using drawing, painting, collage, found materials, and unexpected tools, students will investigate how artists experiment, play, and take creative risks. The emphasis is on process over perfection: following curiosity, embracing mistakes, and discovering how surprising results can lead to powerful and beautiful artworks. Students will learn that experimentation is a key part of how artists think and work, and that playful exploration can be just as meaningful as the final piece. This class is perfect for curious makers who want to push their creativity, try new approaches, and make art that’s bold, thoughtful, and uniquely their own.
