With proper pruning, trees live longer, shrubs are lush, not leggy, and flowering plants bloom more reliably.  Arm yourself with sound pruning principles for young and newly planted trees as well as old overgrown shrubs that feel beyond your control.  In this course, you will gain skills and experience through hands-on teaching, including special time dedicated to pruning hydrangeas. Our Curator of Gardens and Grounds has over twenty years experience pruning a diverse collection of trees and shrubs. 1 hour inside, 2 hours outside

Tidewater Compost Kiosk

Did you know that over 50% of your trash set out at the curb is compostable? If you are interested in reducing your food and organic waste stream, Tidewater Compost and the Hermitage Museum and Gardens have teamed up to launch a Community Compost Drop-off Kiosk beside the new Goode Family Visual Arts School on 7701 N Shore Road.

Participants will earn finished compost bags from their contributions for their own gardening enjoyment! Give life to local waste and visit www.tidewatercompost.com to learn more about Tidewater Compost’s doorstep, residential, drop-off, and commercial composting services. (Chances are, they’re already composting near you!)
