TEXTILES

From early Coptic tapestries to 20th century Spanish lace, textiles make up a large portion of the Sloane Collection. Mrs. Sloane’s affinity for these goods tied in nicely to her husband’s ownership of textile mills along the Elizabeth River during the first half of the 20th century. The textiles on site remain one of the most internationally diverse mediums found at the Hermitage.
