Position: Summer Art Camp Instructor 2025
Type: Contracted, 37.5 hours per week
Description:
The Hermitage hosts a successful art camp program for children ages 6-15 every summer. Each weekly camp has themes geared toward specific topics, interests, and age groups.
Camp begins June 2nd and runs through August 15th. Campers can enjoy just one week or multiple weeks of camp at the Hermitage Visual Arts School. The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Each week includes hands-on art projects, outdoor activities, guided museum tours, guest artists, and supplemental programming focused on the weekly theme.
Candidates must be able to commit to teaching at least one full week of camp with the option to teach multiple weeks.
Requirements:
· Experience providing hands-on art lessons to children
· Ability to demonstrate, engage, challenge, and interest children through the arts
· Experience designing and implementing developmentally appropriate art lessons
· Knowledge of youth development and arts education principles and practices
· Ability to create safe, inclusive, supportive, and creative environments for children, youth, families, and volunteers
· Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work well with children and adults
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, punctuality, ability to plan, anticipate and articulate program needs, and work independently
· Ability to problem-solve, be flexible and imaginative.
Previous teaching experience is required. Experience teaching art in the public school system is preferred.
