GOODE FAMILY VISUAL ARTS SCHOOL
We met with the team at NFK Currents to talk about the newly-renovated Visual Arts School. Along with the modern amenities, beautiful light-filled spaces, a new digital arts classroom, we’re now offering new classes, summer camps, and programming. ABOUT THE VISUAL ARTS SCHOOL

Formerly the Horse and Cow Stables, the Visual Arts School (VAS) is located just off of North Shore Road adjacent to the playground. The VAS offers an ongoing schedule of art courses and workshops throughout the year to fit all interests, ages, schedules, and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist looking to hone your talents, the VAS and its knowledgeable instructors will provide a relaxing and comfortable environment for creative expression.

EDUCATIONAL MISSION
The Hermitage Museum and Gardens’ education and public programming efforts are motivated by the museum’s founder, Florence Sloane, and her pursuit of realizing the Hermitage as a multi-faceted arts and education center made available and appealing to a diverse audience. All Hermitage programming reflects the museum’s vision of providing out of the ordinary art and cultural experiences. Programming refers to the Sloane family legacy and collection while seeking new ways to inspire and educate the community about the many ways art, nature, and the Hermitage Museum’s unique history may relate to their lives. Hermitage programming often uses elements of the permanent collection or special exhibitions as a starting point to connect to visitors while using interpretive methods that are accessible to a wide variety of audiences. The department incorporates learning theory and educational research to create formal and informal learning opportunities that stimulate interest, inspire creativity, and make the Hermitage meaningful to the community.
