Volunteer Opportunities

Burning Man Installation Volunteer

  • Installation volunteers will work directly with the artist teams to install outdoor works of art
  • Installation takes place Friday May 26 through Friday, June 2, 2017
  • Installation volunteers must attend one training session (details below)

Sign up for Installation Shifts Here!

Volunteers are strongly encouraged to sign up for multiple full-day shifts to minimize training time and to ensure a smooth installation process.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Burning Man artists and to contribute to the first exhibition dedicated to the art of Burning Man!

*To sign up for a FULL-DAY shift, please select both the 9am-12 pm shift and the 1-5 pm shift for that particular day.  Lunch will be provided to all FULL-DAY volunteers between 12 pm -1 pm.
Once you have signed up for installation you will receive a confirmation email from our Volunteer Coordinator along with a Volunteer Waver and more details.

Volunteer Burning Man Docent

  • Volunteer Docents will be on site during special events to engage visitors and provide them with specific information about each artwork in the exhibition.
  • Docents will help visitors understand the artist’s meaning behind a piece, the installation process, materials used in a piece, and more.
  • Because of the exhibition’s emphasis on visitor participation the Hermitage is looking for enthusiastic, energetic volunteer docents who will be excited to interact with visitors!
  • The Hermitage seeks dedicated volunteer docents able to participate in multiple events throughout the exhibition

Those interested in becoming a volunteer docent must attend one training session (details below)

Docent shifts will be available at each of our special Burning Man events listed below
Please note--more events may be added and schedule is subject to change—shift times, sign up list, and more details available soon!
