The Hermitage is excited to announce that we will be hosting a special weekend workshop this spring with renown wildlife photographer Irene Hinke-Sacilotto.

Since 1979, Irene has led numerous tours under the auspices of Osprey Photo Workshops and Tours, and has conducted many photographic workshops for zoos, nature centers, and organizations like the National Wildlife Federation and the Assateague Island Alliance. She regularly lectures at Johns Hopkins University and conducts seminars for other educational institutions, retirement communities, and bird and photo clubs including the New England Council of Camera Clubs. Her photography has appeared in numerous magazines, such as Birder’s World, Birding, Living Bird, National Wildlife Federation, Natural History, Outdoor Photographer, Weekly Reader, as well as many books, calendars, note cards, and posters.

During this photo workshop you will discover the Joy of Garden Photography at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens.  With camera in hand we will explore the museum grounds photographing the flowers, pathways, statues, fountains, and museum architecture as well as local wildlife.  With the limited class size, the instructor will spend time with each participant in the field.

This course is designed for those who wish to advance their photographic skills, creating images that are imaginative, distinctive, and visually exciting in a garden setting.  Discussions will include subject selection, equipment, camera settings, composition, lighting, spatial relationships, and utilization of graphic elements. This workshop also includes an instructional PowerPoint program, class discussions, field practice, and image critiques.  A handout will be provided prior to the class with info on what to bring to class and the field and suggested photo exercise that will encourage creativity and reinforce concepts discussed during the workshop.

Please consider joining us this spring for an opportunity to capture rare images of the Hermitage gardens and grounds like never before.

Members: $130 | Non-Members: $145
