SUMMER ART CAMP INSTRUCTOR 2024

Type: Contracted, 37.5 hours per week

Description:
Every summer the Hermitage hosts a successful art camp program for children ages 6-14. Each weekly camp has varying themes geared toward specific topics, interests, and age groups.
Camp begins June 20th and runs through September 1st (camp does not meet June 19th and July 4th.) Campers can enjoy just one week or multiple weeks of camp at the Hermitage Visual Arts School. The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Each week includes hands-on art projects, outdoor activities, guided museum tours, guest artists and supplemental programming focused on the weekly theme.
Candidates must be able to commit to teaching at least one full week of camp with the option to teach multiple weeks.

Requirements:

  • Experience providing hands-on art lessons to children
  • Ability to demonstrate, engage, challenge and interest children through the arts
  • Experience designing and implementing developmentally appropriate art lessons
  • Knowledge of youth development and arts education principles and practices
  • Ability to create safe, inclusive, supportive and creative environments for children, youth, families and volunteers
  • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work well with children and adults
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, punctuality, ability to plan ahead, anticipate and articulate program needs, and work independently
  • Ability to problem-solve, be flexible and imaginative.

Previous teaching experience is required. Experience teaching art in the public-school system is preferred.

Special note: The Hermitage Museum’s Visual Arts School has recently undergone a major renovation. With the re-opening in January 2024, the school features new equipment, supplies, and facilities, making this year a great time to get involved!

WEDDING & PRIVATE EVENT ATTENDANT

Type: Part-time

Description:
The Hermitage Museum is seeking an experienced attendant to assist with its schedule of upcoming weddings. For this ambassador role, professional customer service and a cheerful attitude are a must, while also ensuring that clients, their guests, and vendors respect the historic home, artifacts, and grounds. The attendant, under the direction of the Weddings and Events Manager or Wedding Lead, assists with all details of weddings: assisting vendors with wedding deliveries, directing guest parking, monitoring event sound levels, stocking restrooms with supplies, assisting wedding guests as they depart the grounds at the end of the evening, etc.

Shifts begin at 3–4 p.m. and end by midnight. The pay rate is a flat $150 for shifts lasting up to 7.5 hours and $20/hour after 7.5 hours. Attendant schedules are posted two months in advance. If you meet these criteria, email your resume to: hlindsay@thehermitagemuseum.org.
