Exploring Raku: Introductory Workshop

Instructed by Angela Tilley
Saturdays, January 20th + February 3rd
10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (2 days)

This newly designed 2-day workshop will introduce students to the very fast, low-fire process of Raku. Participants will learn about raku glazing and firing techniques as they discuss the general history and practice of firing ceramics in a raku kiln. After this introduction to raku firing, students will have ample time with instructor guidance to create unique pieces to be fired. In the following weeks students will use Open Studio time to finish up their pieces. The second class meeting will be spent glazing and participating in the spectacular firing process of raku. Witness red hot pieces as they are removed from the kiln and smothered with sawdust and newspaper to create flashes of color and dramatic results! Bring a bag lunch and watch your piece transform through the firing.

$95 for members | $105 for non-members
